Machine Lullabies is a collection of tunes that I imagine machines sing to each other at night after the humans have left the plant. It's mostly the big machines that sing to the little ones ("Bedtime"), but sometimes the little ones sing for each other ("Not. Sleepy. At. All"). The machines live in a bright and well-cared for factory, so despite the industrial setting, the mood is not dystopian. Not all the machines are born singers (truth be told) and some may get a bit frustrated when the lullaby does not produce the intended results ("Sleepmode. Now") in which case the obvious solution is to sing louder! Some of the sounds may be rough and buzzy around the edges, but the overall vibe is dreamy and peaceful ("Powering Down," "Machine Dreams").

The electro-mechanical theme informs the choice of instruments. All voices are analog synthesizers (Moog Sub 37, Moog Grandmother, Arturia Mini Brute 2, Novation Bass Station II), guitar pedals (Mr. Black Eterna, Ibanez Tube Screamer) and Eric Schlappi's indispensable 100 Grit and Angle Grinder modules, which appear on every track in some fashion.
